ABOUT MYSELF – THE ENGINEER OWNER

professional

I am a professional freelance sound engineer/ mixer/ supervisor for television broadcast, the industry I have worked within since 2005. I regularly run and mix the sound for live BBC Sports News, live CBBC channel content (Newsround and CBBC HQ) and mix live sport feeds for the BBC and DAZN which is then broadcast live or ingested for further editing into highlights packages for programs such as Match of the Day. I also occasionally work for LFCTV and have also mixed and managed the Stadium PA during match days at Manchester City Etihad Stadium including the entertainment in City Square. Other clients have included ITV and Ideal World.

love of music

I have been recording and mixing music in so many varying capacities since my college days in 1997. There I made the decision I would be behind a mixing desk rather than a world class session bass guitarist, a more realistic scenario! The love of creating music from scratch was the fuel behind my determination to work with sound; from the early days of a naive 16 year old recording demos on a cassette 4 track with one microphone through to recording full bands straight into a digital environment years after graduating, I have developed my skills and knowledge to maintain a healthy career in broadcast and eventually build my own recording studio to a high specification for music recording.

band

I am a musician, primarily a bass guitar player who uses other instruments as a ‘musical tool box’ which I dip into when something needs writing and am willing to help with writing/ performing if required. I have been in many bands and currently play bass guitar with Heywood based original and covers band ‘Mr. Bifter’.
